Starting the cello as an adult

You don’t need to read music, own a cello or have played anything before. What the first term looks like.

Renting first

Rent a cello for the first term. Most music shops in Bath and Bristol rent good student instruments by the month.

Posture, the bow hold, open strings and your first simple tunes. Most adults are playing a recognisable piece within six weeks.

Fifteen minutes a day is better than two hours on Sunday.
